the swinging sixties

Couture, October 1968
This ad reads "You can see the admiration in his eyes..your dress is terrific! And when you tell him you made it yourself, he'll be even prouder." Ah! Fashion of the late 60's when women were so domestic.

Vamp camp

Leighton Meester, Krysten Ritter, and Mary-Kate Olsen

Head to toe BLACK, deathly pale complexions, seductive silhouettes, red lipstick, messy free-flowing hair...remind you of anything? It looks like this vampire KILLER trend isn't going to 'die' anytime soon.

tips: black is most flattering against bare skin, don't overcompensate with big bangles or statement necklaces. Keep your vamp look simple by accessorizing with sexy stilettos + deep lip color(my personal fav, NARS 'jungle red')

Its fun to see what kind of fashion inspires beautiful, every day people. Being able to express yourself through dress can sometimes be intimidating but the more comfortable you become with yourself(body & mind), the easier it may be to wear your one-of-kind flare on the streets! Be proud of your inner fashionista

The September Issue

The September Issue
The September 2007 issue of Vogue magazine weighed nearly five pounds, and was the single largest issue of a magazine ever published
The September Issue was directed and produced by R.J. Cutler and tells the story of legendary Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour and her larger-than-life team of editors creating the issue and ruling the world of fashion.
4Stars and raw! The movie is absolutely amazing and represents Anna Wintour, and her life of wonderful fashion achievement, in the perfect light.

There is so much to love about these unique, British designed, hand-made luxury luggage pieces! The original models have remained the same since 1987 when Globe-Trotter was first established. Since then they have expanded their line and now offer 6 different collections (Original, Centenary, Safari, Cruise, Orient, and a limited edition).

Christmas 2008 I received my first two Safari, Globe-trotter pieces. I am obsessed with the 1920's feel and cant wait to buy more!

All Washed Out

Helloooo 80's flash back! All great trends make their rounds and return after decades of hibernation, are we currently witnessing the homecoming of the acid-wash jean?
                                                I think so!
The acid washing process uses chemicals to strip off the top layer color, leaving the white fabric exposed {which presents a faded look}. Acid washing can be done all over fabric or can be used in specified areas for a splotchy, edgier look!

tips: dress DOWN acid wash jeans with a graphic tee and colorful moccasins, dress UP with drummer-boy jacket and strappy heels-My favorite: a pair of color acid-washed jeans teamed with a white James Perse tank!

kick back and relax

its the weekend, you deserve it
Arance all'Aperol
Prep time: ~15 minutes (for 2)
2 oranges
2 blood oranges
2-3 tsp preferably homemade vanilla sugar (or more to taste)
zest of 1 lime (or lemon)
4-6 tbsp Aperol(contains alcohol)

easy labor:
  1. Peel and segment both oranges and blood oranges
  2. Put orange segments into a bowl and squeeze out the juices from the remaining membranes. Add vanilla sugar to taste (start with 1/2 tsp per orange fruit and adapt to taste), the zest of one lime (or lemon) and Aperol until the fruits are almost covered (rule of thumb: 1-2 tbsp per orange) and stir. Thoroughly cover the bowl with a lid or foil, then chill in the fridge, at least over night, better for a full 24 hours.
  3. be adventurous, add a scoop of vanilla ice cream and enjoy!

sexy, feminine, sophisticated

Spring 2010
Michelle Smith, of Milly, went for something 'darker' this Spring'10, conquering the color black like never before.

Sticking to her guns when it came to silhouette (oversized buttons, mini-shorts and micro skirts) Milly added splashes of gold around the necklines and hems to add some extra pizzaz.

love Milly's new costume jewelry line!

'Alexander the Great'

He was known for his dramatic tailoring, innovative collections and avant-garde fashion shows. After designing several years for Givenchy, McQueen moved on and launched his legendary label in 2001 where he continued to inspire the fashion industry with breathtaking talent and creative genius.
Like most, my heart is mourning this unfortunate death and my most heartfelt sympathy goes out to the McQueen family at this tragic time. We have lost one of the best in the fashion industry-the master of fashion, the great, Alexander McQueen.

'Semper Fi' Fashion

Fashion surrenders to 'couture camo' on the Spring 2010, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week runway. From Alexander Wang's skinny cargo pants to Chloe's khaki shorts and trench capes, the utilitarian trend has taken over the catwalk.

tips: Pair slouchy basics such as a loose camo tee with black leather leggings and a super-high heel. Add a splash of diamonds to show who's really in charge!
